Cloud Career Starter Guide
Understand cloud roles and build a practical first learning plan.
STEP 01
Start with the fundamentals
Cloud work builds on networking, operating systems, identity and troubleshooting. Practise IP addressing, DNS, permissions and command-line basics before adding complex cloud services.
STEP 02
Choose a first platform
Choose Azure or AWS for your first set of labs. Learn to create a small virtual machine, restrict network access, manage a user identity and read monitoring output. Set a budget and remove lab resources when finished.
STEP 03
Build a small, documented project
Deploy a simple application with a network, storage, access controls and monitoring. Explain what each component does, what it costs and how you would restore the service after a failure.
STEP 04
Connect learning to a real role
Compare cloud support and junior administrator requirements with your current skills. Use the career assessment to choose your next gaps, then review the cloud diploma, Azure or AWS programmes with an advisor.
